A year ago, a Brazilian woman bought a life-size rag doll to practice dancing as if it were her real partner. In this context, the young Meirevone Rocha practiced with the doll, which she named Marcelo.
The particular situation went viral when the 37-year-old woman uploaded the curious video to her TikTok account. And from there she recreated a fictional story that had a big impact: she said she “married” the doll. The invention went further and she also assured her that she had a “son” named Marcelinho.
The absurd fantasy exploded on social media and the young woman continued with the story and did not stop uploading unusual images and videos.
“A different marriage, a marriage that is a bit difficult to understand but there is a lot of love involved, unconditional love, a very important meaning to me. Marcelo is the ideal and faithful husband “, was the message with which the woman celebrated her anniversary.
Meanwhile, in Brazil, their “wedding” was covered by the media closely following what it’s like to be “married” to a doll.
“I went to my mother and asked her to make a rag doll to dance with me. She did and a friend suggested I call him Marcelo,” the protagonist of this story told O Tempo.
Meirevone dedicates her life to the forró (a genre common in northeastern Brazil) and at one point she needed a suitable dance partner for her, so her mother took it upon herself to make her a dancer to advance the rehearsals with without problems. The idea ended up going to another level and “Marcelo” became her husband.
