A 38-year-old man found a lost check for US$4.8 million (approximately R$25.6 million) drawn up on behalf of the company. Haribo – the gummy bear manufacturer was disappointed with his reward only after returning the value to those responsible. He bought six packs of candy.
Anouar G., in an interview with the German newspaper Bild, said that he found the check next to a train station while walking on the streets of Frankfurt, Germany. The value of the mutual check will be written to a supermarket chain.
According to the publication, after contacting the company, the man was instructed to destroy the check he had made.
As a reward, however, Anouar received a box containing six packs of Haribo products. Speaking to the newspaper, the man did not hide his disappointment. “I thought it was a little cheap,” he said sarcastically.
When questioned, Haribo confirmed the process, but justified that “no one outside the company can use it because it’s a mutual check.”
The company also announced that the delivery of the candies is part of “a standard package sent as a thank you”.
