A man who had a problem with the sole of his foot and had his left leg amputated in Thailand filed a lawsuit against the hospital after applying to the health institution.
According to the information obtained by the Daily Star, the man, whose identity has not been released, says that the paramedics at the hospital cut his leg without permission.
He claims to have signed a form allowing the wounds to be “repaired” to perform a surgical procedure, but did not know that this would result in amputation of his leg. The patient accuses doctors of putting a substance on the amputation only after surgical intervention.
Thai lost the first case against the hospital, but appealed to the Thai Lawyers Council to advance his case. The man claims the doctor caring for him was “negligent” and that the amputation had caused “serious damage” to his life.
Now, lawyers Pricha Senpanich and Naron Asa, representing the patient, will ask experts to investigate medical malpractice in order to proceed with the case.
The lawyers did not specify the amount of “compensation” the Thai requested in court. The hospital did not comment on the claim.
