North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appeared in public next to his daughter in photos (see below), during the country’s nuclear-armed ballistic missile launch in May for the first time since the girl’s birth. The existence of the girl was never publicly confirmed before the photos were released. The information was obtained from the North Korean news agency KCNA and Reuters.
The Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was tested on Friday (18; local time), and information and photos of the leader and his daughter were released Saturday (local time).
The girl’s name was not disclosed. In addition to holding hands with her father both while walking and watching the ballistic missile, she appears in a white blouse, black pants and red shoes.
“This is the first observed event we’ve seen Kim Jong Un’s daughter at a public event,” said Michael Madden, a North Korean leadership expert at the US-based Stimson Center. He added, “It is very important to publicly reveal Kim Jong-un in this way, and it provides a certain degree of comfort for Kim Jong-un.”
Experts point out that Kim will have three children, two girls and a boy. According to observers, one of these children would appear on the record of the events of a holiday in September.
Former basketball player Dennis Rodman claimed in 2013 that Kim would have a “baby” daughter named Ju Ae. In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, Rodman said that Kim and the North Korean leader spent some time with his family and even held the baby in his arms.
