President of the United States Joe Biden said he regrets the shooting at an LGBTQ bar in Colorado Springs earlier this Sunday, Brasilia time. The fire killed at least five people and injured 18.

Biden said he and First Lady Jill were “praying for the families” of the victims. “While the reason for this attack is not yet clear, we know that gun violence has a special impact on LGBTQI+ communities in our country,” he said.

The president said he had signed a gun safety bill, but said “more needs to be done” to tackle the “public health epidemic of gun violence,” and “highlighted the injustices that contribute to violence against LGBTQI+ people. We cannot tolerate hate.”

Club Q reported that they were “devastated by the senseless attack on our community.” “We are grateful for the quick response from the heroic bosses who suppressed the shooter and ended this hate attack,” Bar wrote on his Facebook page.
