A fatal plane crash occurred this Monday in the city of Medellín, Colombia, where a plane crashed against a house that leaves at least eight dead.

The event occurred in a residence located in the Belén Rosales neighborhood, where several firefighters quickly arrived to rescue the victims on the spot.

As reported by Olaya Herrera Airport, the event occurred a few minutes after the plane took off and The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

In this sense, they have detailed that deceased people are six passengers and two crew members and who also operate in the area of ​​the accident specialized in air rescue and pre-hospital assistance.

According to local authorities, the collision caused the plane to break into six parts and when it crashed into a house, it also destroyed parts of seven other houses and adjacent buildings.

As for the aircraft, the Air Force reported that its registration is HK 5121, it was in charge of covering the Medellín route and this Monday it was destined for the Chocó department: a jungle area on the Pacific coast that is difficult to access by routes.

Medellín mayor Daniel Quintero denounced the incident on his Twitter account, where he also posted a video showing a column of black smoke billowing out of houses and buildings.

“It is a Piper twin-engine aircraft that covered the route from Medellín to the municipality of Pizarro, Chocó department (west). On taking off, it reports engine failure (and) fails to return to Olaya Herrera airport”, has explained .

And he added: “All the capabilities of the administration have been activated to help the victims.”

The mayor’s office has also released other videos showing a group of rescuers clearing the rubble from the building in question, which was partially destroyed following the impact.
