Dad Francisco fired the management of Cáritas Internationalis and appointed a temporary committee after an external review was found management and morale issues at the Vatican International Charity
The Holy See said in a statement that the review found no evidence of financial mismanagement or sexual misconduct.
Meanwhile, the Vatican has specified that other problems have arisen, with “real shortcomings” found in the management, “seriously damaging team spirit and staff morale”.
The pope removed director general Aloysius John, elected in a contested vote in 2019, as well as the leadership team.
The changes do not affect the leadership of any of the 162 national relief and development organizations that make up the global Caritas confederation.
