On Monday in Saint-Denis in the Paris region, two sisters, a source close to the investigation and the Public Ministry (MP), were arrested for stealing jewelery from a Brazilian woman who attended Paris Fashion Week last September.
The Brigade Suppression Brigade (BRB) responsible for the investigation, which opened in late September, arrested the two sisters in Saint-Denis on Monday, a source close to the investigation told AFP.
The Bobigny Public Prosecutor said the sisters could appear in court on Thursday, saying they were detained for “aggravated theft”.
The Brazilian executive landed at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport on September 27 and boarded a tourist car to attend Paris Fashion Week, which started the day before.
A source close to the investigation told AFP at the time of the events that the vehicle got stuck in a traffic jam at an intersection in the commune of Saint-Denis, north of Paris.
According to a police source, the two men approached on a motorcycle, smashed the rear window of the vehicle and stole a satchel and a Louis Vuitton suitcase, causing no injuries.
When filing a complaint with the police station in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the manager valuated the stolen goods at 3m euros, which was not confirmed by the lawmaker.
