A small town in rural Australia is mourning the sudden death of three people within a week. Two of the same family were residents who moved in, who described a mother’s death just two days after her son’s death as a “broken heart” case.

According to the British Daily Mail, the series of tragedies took place in Coober Pedy, a town of just 2,000 inhabitants. Goran Ilich, 34, died on November 12, and his body was found by his mother, Elizabeth, who was deeply shaken.

Local newspaper Coober Pedy Regional Times paid tribute to Ilich, stating that people of different age groups knew and sympathized with him. The text reads, “Goran Ilich was popular with the villagers. He had a natural charm and was quite polite.”

mother dies too

The next surprise came when Goran’s mother, Elizabeth Ilich, died Monday (14), two days after her son.

Still shaken by the loss of her son, Elizabeth mourned. She called her friends for help, claiming she had chest pain when she awoke. An ambulance was called to the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital. However, he could not stand it and died in the health unit hours later.

In a Facebook post, a friend of Elizabeth’s lamented the tragedy and noted that she died “heartbroken” as she could not bear the death of her son. In the text, the woman also reported that Elizabeth was suffering from heart problems.

Since the Ilich family is so beloved in the city, many residents have created a page on the GoFundMe crowdfunding website to raise money for the mother and her son’s funeral. The campaign also served to honor them.

“Everyone who interacted with Goran knew he was different, he could talk to anyone and captivated them with his charisma and personality,” says the text of the fundraiser.

third death

The Coober Pedy community was once again stunned by the death of Jayden Watts, a firefighter, on Friday (18). The cause of death was also unclear.

Due to the death of three people in the same week, residents of the Australian city expressed their pain and discomfort on social networks. One described it as a “terrible week for the community”.

“First Goran Ilich, a few days later his mother Elizabeth, and in just a few days Jayden Watts. This year we saw many of our friends and neighbors saying our final goodbyes. My thoughts and prayers are with you all,” wrote one user.
