A 19-year-old American will not be allowed to watch his father’s execution after a judge rules he is too young to watch the execution.

Kevin Johnson will be executed on Tuesday, 29, for the murder of a police officer at the age of 19 in 2005.

He had requested the presence of his daughter Khorry Ramey during his execution.

The NGO ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) filed an emergency motion on his behalf, arguing that state laws violated his constitutional rights.

The organization claims that the age requirement in Missouri law, which prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from witnessing executions, does not serve the purpose of security.

However, the judge in charge of the case dismissed the appeal.

Racism

Johnson, 37, has been in prison since Ramey was two years old.

Father and daughter bonded through visits, phone calls, letters and emails. Last month, Ramey imprisoned her newborn son to meet his grandfather.

“I am very sorry that I could not be there for my father in his last moments,” Ramey said in a statement.

Johnson was found guilty of murdering the father of three, Missouri police officer William McEntee.

Johnson’s lawyers invested money to save his life.

While they do not dispute his guilt, they argue that racism played a role in the death penalty.
