An Indian had to undergo surgery on Saturday (26) to remove the 187 coins stuck in his stomach. According to the information obtained by the British tabloid The Mirror, the man had been mentally unstable for about three months and had been swallowing metal objects.
The coins, which weighed around 1.5 kg in total, were identified after the man was admitted to a hospital in Bagalkot, Karnataka state, India, complaining of severe abdominal pain.
Doctors made x-ray examinations and were surprised to detect foreign bodies in the patient’s body. He had vomiting as a symptom and was swollen.
According to the news of The Mirror, doctor Eshwar Kalaburgi said, “The stomach was extremely enlarged. Many coins were stuck in different parts of the stomach.” After two hours of surgery, all the coins were removed.
After the procedure, the patient was treated for dehydration and is currently recovering in the hospital.
