A man mutilated by a 120-pound domestic boar was found dead in his backyard. The episode took place on Thursday, 24th in Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand.
According to The Sun, 68-year-old Amnuay Suriwong adopted the wild animal as a companion years ago and was very fond of it.
Suriwong’s neighbors reported hearing cries of pain from their property on the day of the incident and rushing to help him. They found the man lying on the ground, covered in blood.
Witnesses lifted him up and sat on a chair, pressing on his wounds while he waited for paramedics to arrive. However, Suriwong could not resist and died untreated.
The boar pierced the inside of its owner’s thigh, leaving two deep wounds.
After the attack, the domestic boar was quickly captured by the victim’s neighbors and euthanized.
Witnesses told local officials that the animal would become aggressive when Suriwong tried to return the animal to its enclosure.
Durian Suriwong, 54, his sister-in-law, said that Suriwong bought the boar to keep him company when he lived alone.
“He let him roam the grounds in the afternoon, after that free time he was back in the boar enclosure,” he explained.
According to Durian, the pet was small when purchased and apparently docile. At first the boar won the hearts of Suriwong’s neighbors, who brought him vegetables to eat every time they visited. But over time, he has grown to 120 pounds in addition to developing two large teeth.
The woman also reaffirmed that the pig had never hurt anyone or showed aggression until then.
He was near his brother-in-law’s house at the time of the attack and heard his brother-in-law scream when he was attacked by a wild boar.
“Hopefully this serves as a warning to be careful when raising wild animals because we can never be sure of their behavior.”
