Bin Laden’s son: “My father tried chemical weapons on my dogs”

Omar, the 41-year-old son of Osama Bin Laden, lives with his 67-year-old wife, Zaina, in Normandy, in northern France. $54,000 each. “I’m just trying to forget all the bad moments as best I can. It’s very difficult. You suffer all the time,” says the painter.

Omar was born in Saudi Arabia in 1981. At the age of 15, he was chosen by his father to accompany him and live in Tora Bora, a cave complex in eastern Afghanistan. This is where Omar said he learned to use AK-47 rifles and use a Russian battle tank.

Again in Tora Bora, he saw that his pet dogs were killed in chemical weapons experiments by members of the terrorist organization led by his father. He says he is “disgusted” by the situation.

“My father never asked me to join al-Qaeda, but he said I was the chosen son to keep his job. He was disappointed when I said I wasn’t fit for life,” he said. When The Sun asked how his father had chosen him as his successor, Omar was unable to explain why. “I don’t know, maybe because I’m the smartest. That’s why I’m alive today.”

Omar left Tora Bora in April 2001, five months before the attack on the Twin Towers in New York. Saying goodbye to his father, he hadn’t thought that this would be the last conversation between the two of them. Ten years later, while in Qatar, he learned from the press that his father had been killed by the US Navy in a safe house in Pakistan.

“I thought it was over and I wouldn’t suffer anymore. And I was wrong, because even today people judge me.” says Omar, remembering that he didn’t cry over his father’s death. However, he regretted that he did not have a funeral. Painter also doubts the official report that the terrorist’s body will be thrown into the sea. “I think they took his body to the US for people to see.”

“Omar loves Osama and hates him at the same time. He loves him because he’s his father, but hates what he does,” says Omar’s wife, Zaina. Before marrying Bin Laden’s fourth eldest son, the British woman was known as Jane Felix-Browne and even held a similar elected position as a councilor in Cheshire, a county in the northwest of England.

He met her in 2007 while riding a horse near the Great Pyramid in Giza, Egypt, and they were married soon after. They tried to have a child through IVF in 2010, but the surrogate miscarried at the tenth week of the twins’ pregnancy.

The couple says they want to live in the UK, but Omar says he was banned from entering the country two years ago. “When I first set foot on British soil, they immediately took us to the interrogation room for hours. But they were very kind and very respectful.”

Omar inherited his taste for painting from his mother, Najva, who was his father’s first wife. In an interview with North American Vice, she talked about her artistic inspirations, which ranged from her parents’ farm in the interior of Saudi Arabia, to landscapes of the American Old West, where she played as a child.

The landscapes in his paintings alternate between the dunes of the Saudi desert and the banks of the Nile River and the cacti, dry trees and animal skeletons of Arizona.
