In recent weeks, a new story has gone viral, this time linked to the world of work. Now, one woman has revealed she was sent home for wearing a skintight dress to work which, while not short, was called “revealing” and said she was “distracting”. The “proposal” was made by the company’s Human Resources personnel.

When you go to the office, you can spend years choosing the perfect suit. Different workplaces have different dress codes, but usually the person chooses something elegant and ‘appropriate’ to spend the day with colleagues. Whether it’s a suit, a dress or pants and shirt, on rare occasions they will tell you what you are wearing is not acceptable for the office.

However, one woman says she was surprised when told her work attire was inappropriate and, as a result, her bosses would send her home. The woman, who posts on TikTok with the username @notmariedee, showed off the outfit in a video, but all was not as it seemed.

The outfit included a lilac wrap top that flattered her figure and simple black work pants. The woman did not specify why she was sent home for her dress.

She said: “I got sent home from work for this dress…” and in the caption, she asked, “Should I quit?”

While many people flocked to the comments to share their outrage on her behalf, or agreed it was inappropriate, there were others who pointed out that the woman was probably just joking, as many of her other videos contain jokes.

In other videos, she shows how she works for the family business, often working with her father and husband.

“No, that didn’t happen,” one person commented.

Another asked, “Don’t you work for your father?”

A third sarcastically asked if it was her father or her husband who “sent her home”.

However, that hasn’t stopped several people from discussing the outfit in the TikTok comments, with one person writing that it was “totally understandable” that she was sent home.

Someone else said, “It looks great, but I’d say it’s too cleavage for the job, depending on what you do.”

A TikToker colleague responded: “Using this for business is completely unprofessional and inappropriate. You can’t ask seriously…”

Others congratulated the woman, saying they saw no problem.

“You look amazing and professional,” proclaimed another user.

t”I see nothing wrong with it,” added one Tiktoker.

“Get my jaw off the ground,” argued another person.
