Spanish authorities announced on Monday the 5th that a drug trafficking network disguised as humanitarian aid to Ukraine had been dismantled, with the aim of sending packages of cannabis to several European countries.
According to the Spanish Civil Guard, 30 people were arrested in this operation, which was carried out in several cities of Andalusia (south), including Seville, Malaga and Granada.
The Civil Guard said in a statement that detainees of Spanish, Ukrainian, German and Moroccan nationality received their supplies from “marijuana fields scattered across Andalusia”.
To export the drugs, they “camouflaged the drugs in cardboard boxes” and presented them as “material and humanitarian aid to go to Ukraine”.
For this purpose, a fake “solidarity caravan” was organized to go undetected to the police and border controls.
During the operation, police confiscated six firearms and 2,500 marijuana plants, as well as 800,000 euros, according to the Civil Guard.
