The Kremlin said on Tuesday it had agreed with the United States on the need for a lasting peace in Ukraine, but it does not see any possibility of negotiations at this time.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in an interview on Monday that the conflict in Ukraine “will almost certainly end with diplomacy and negotiations” and that “a just and lasting peace” is needed.

“The result should be a just and lasting peace – you can agree with that. But as for the possibility of some kind of negotiation, we do not see any negotiations at the moment,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

He added that for talks with potential partners, Russia must achieve its “special military operation” goals. Since the beginning of the war, on February 24, Russia says its aim is to disarm Ukraine, prevent it from joining NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and denazify the country.

In October, Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the goals of Moscow’s “special military operation” could be achieved through negotiations.
