Two trains collided in Barcelona: at least 155 injured

Nail 155 people were injured this Wednesday, mostly with minor injurieswhen two trains collided in Barcelona, Spain. The accident occurred at 7:50 am (4:50 am Argentina time) at the Montcada i Reixac-Manresa station.

The accident occurred when a train traveling towards the city of Barcelona rammed another train from behind that he was going to the same place and that he was at the station, according to the state-owned railway company Renfe.

The crash forced the Civil Protection to activate the alert plan for railway accidents, while the health services treat the injured in the area, of which three were transferred to health centres.

The two trains are now fully evacuated, according to firefighters, who have sent several crews to help carry the injured onto the ambulances. Rail traffic on the three affected lines has been restored after being paralyzed for more than an hour and a half.

The affected trains covered Renfe’s Rodalies R4 line.

The company reported that, an hour and a half after the incident, service was restored
