Former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo was transferred today to the police headquarters of Diroes, an elite unit of the National Police in the district of Ate, as part of the Public Ministry’s investigation against him, the newspaper “La República” reported. The place is the same where former dictator Alberto Fujimori was held.
Earlier, Castillo announced to the Nation that he would dissolve the National Congress and form an “extraordinary emergency government” to call for new elections and then change the country’s constitution. Castillo’s announcement came shortly before Congress approved the impeachment of the president.
