Russia today criticized what the US magazine Time called “Russian hostility” and “blindness”, which named Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky its 2022 Person of the Year and paid homage to his country’s “spirit”.
“We see that the editorial line of this magazine does not go beyond the European-wide mainstream, which is absolutely blind, anti-Russian and furious anti-Russian,” Dmitri Peskov, spokesman for the Russian presidency, told reporters.
The magazine noted that Zelensky was “moving the world in ways we haven’t seen in decades.”
Zelenskiy, who was criticized for not carrying out the reforms he promised before the Kremlin attack at the end of February, gained a new dimension in the conflict by uniting the people and soldiers with video messages and frontline visits.
He also received significant support from Western leaders, thanks to numerous remote talks, meetings, and nearly daily phone calls.
But Russian officials present him as the head of a gang of “Nazis” or “drug addicts” and criticize his refusal to negotiate with Vladimir Putin.
Peskov insisted on Thursday that the conflict could be ended “tomorrow if (Zelensky) wishes.”
