At least two people were killed and five injured in Sunday’s clash between police and demonstrators protesting Peru’s new president, Dina Boluarte (11).
According to local police, the protest took place in the city of Andahuaylas in the Apurímac region (more than 750 kilometers from the capital, Lima).
“We regret that two people were killed and many injured in the clashes,” Interior Minister César Cervantes told RPP radio shortly after police announced that a demonstrator had died.
