According to the UN’s Chinese epidemiologist Eric Feigl-Ding, the end of Asian government health restrictions is filling hospitals and causing an “explosion of funerals”.

What did he say on Twitter?

  • 60% of Chinese likely to have covid in the next 90 days
  • Overcrowded funeral homes: 2,000 bodies await cremation
  • Schools closed in ‘epidemic cities’
  • China’s demand will reduce world drug supply
  • China rejects bivalent vaccine
  • Seniors resist vaccination
  • In 3 months, 10% of the world’s population will be infected

I am not exaggerating: If there is no intervention, there will be 2 million deaths in China in the coming months (…).

“He is a renowned, trusted professor with resources in China,” confirms Alexandre Naime, vice-president of the SBI (Brazilian Infectious Diseases Association).

Feigl-Ding said he had relayed information from Chinese hospitals and funeral homes that reportedly used refrigerators to preserve bodies waiting in line.

All the incinerators of Beijing’s largest funeral home are working but are not keeping up with demand, resulting in a 20-day delay.

“The global economic fallout … will be ugly.”

A study on the end of the “zero Kovid in China” program published in the specialist journal Nature estimates that up to one million Chinese have died in the coming months. A report from the University of Hong Kong estimates a similar number.

Feigl-Ding sent a message to those who called him an alarmist:

You do not have to believe me. When I tried to warn in January 2020 that the ‘novel coronavirus’ was a pandemic the world had not seen since 1918, many did not.

“Chinese Disaster”

In addition to the relaxation of sanitary restrictions, SBI’s Naime attributes the “Chinese disaster” to vaccination resistance of the elderly and the use of first-generation vaccines that have not yet been adapted for the omycron variant.

China vaccinated 89% of the population with two doses, but only 57% received a boosterAccording to WHO (World Health Organization).

Will a new wave come to Brazil?

Naime bets that “more infectious variants will emerge” but rule out a new wave of deaths in Brazil and around the world, as “the global population is much better vaccinated than the Chinese.”

“Our lesson is to give booster doses. In China, that will be to reduce the damage,” he says.
