Toys depicting Venezuelan President and First Lady Cilia Flores as superheroes were given to children hit by the rain from various parts of the country.
The characters were called “Superbigote” (Spanish for “Super mustache”) and “Supercilita”, according to Venezuelan government officials.
In total, Venezuela distributed 12 million toys to children. Besides the Mauro and Cilia dolls, toys such as bicycles and board games were also delivered.
On social networks, the delivery of the dolls was controversial, and some users criticized the money spent on the production of the toys – the Venezuelan government did not disclose how much the production cost.
Brazil wants to maintain relations with Venezuela. On the 14th of last month, future Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said he had received orders from incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to resume relations with Venezuela, recognizing Maduro as the country’s president.
He stated that the future government should continue its policy of regional relations with South America and Africa.
Minister [Lula] He instructed me to restore relations with Venezuela. We will do this by sending a charge d’affaires to take back the buildings there and reopen the embassy from January 1.”
