George Anthony Devolder-Santos, the son of a Brazilian immigrant family who was elected congressman from the Republican party in the United States, admitted that he lied about his professional and academic curriculum after a week of silence.
In an interview with the New York Post, George Santos tried to minimize inconsistencies in his resume. “My sins here adorn my resume. I’m sorry.”
Remember the lies George Santos told:
- The deputy elected during the campaign said that he graduated from Baruch College in 2010.
- Santos also said he works at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs.
- He claimed to have been the victim of “slander allegations” after the New York Times report revealed the lies.
Now Santos admits that he did not graduate from Baruch College and did not receive a higher education.
As for jobs, he said he just made a “bad choice of words” and is vice president at Link Bridge, an investment firm that does business with Citigroup and Goldman Sachs.
I did not graduate from any higher education institution. I am ashamed and sorry. We do stupid things in life.
U.S. Representative George Santos
Santos also says the lie is no reason to step down on January 3. Democrats are defending his resignation before he takes office.
Victory in an unprecedented conflict. George Santos was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives after overthrowing Democrat Robert Zimmerman. It was the first time two gay candidates were vying for a seat in New York’s 3rd Congressional District.
A Republican, Santos was born and raised in Queens, New York, and is a supporter of former US President Donald Trump. He also praised Brazil’s current president, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), in his posts on social networks and has a photo with his son, re-elected federal lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP).
The guidelines advocated by Santos are mostly economic in scope and focus on “saving the American dream”. “There is so much more to be done for this country. Under the Biden administration, the American dream is still at stake. I will use my skills to reduce crippling inflation and keep our communities safe,” he wrote.
