A 47-year-old man named Juan José followed from afar the press conference held in Tucumán in the Field of Memory and Human Rights, where the Navy Mechanics School’s (ExEsma) secret detention center operates.

destroyed family
Juan José is the son of Mercedes del Valle Morales, who was 23 when he was abducted and disappeared on May 20, 1976 in the city of Tucumán. He was working on a property where the owners raised their son as their own.
Along with Mercedes, Juan José’s maternal grandparents and three uncles were abducted four days later. They all disappeared during the dictatorship.
Grandson 132 began researching his identity in 2004, after his supposed parents died and his half-brothers told him he was not the biological son of the family and gave him his original identity document.
After documentary research and DNA studies at the National Genetic Data Bank, he discovered that he was the son of Mercedes del Valle Morales, who was among those who disappeared during the dictatorship in 2008.
José left his genetic profile to the Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF), which managed to identify his mother’s remains in Tucumán’s Northern Cemetery. The body had to be exhumed to confirm that the person who raised him was his biological father. Negative membership result confirmed today.
Plaza de Mayo’s grandmothers continue to search for around 300 people aged around 45 who are living under false identities, born in captivity or abducted as infants. José’s condition was not counted among those sought by the association.
This is the second resolution to a baby theft case announced last week by Grandmothers during the dictatorship, after three years of no discovery.
