Kaleidoscope is one of the most confusing series on Netflix. But it is not, like Dark, for its story: it is because of its structure.
Its 8 episodes, all titled with a different color name, can be watched in any order. Netflix shows them to users randomly so that everyone has a different experience.
The premise of the plot is simple: Leo, a veteran thief, organizes a 7 billion dollar heist with his gang (the largest in history) and things get complicated.
The story is one and, not being strictly linear, it is made up of episodes that complement each other. Nor is it an anthology, like Black Mirror or The Cabinet of Curiosities, that have standalone or self-contained stories.
The series features familiar faces. The protagonist is played by Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and one of the characters is played by the Spaniard vega peace. Your manager is Eric Garcia (Supah Ninja).
What is the correct order to watch it?
With the proposal on the table, the first question from Internet users was: How to see it in the correct order? And the second: What’s the best order?
These questions are very difficult to answer because The kaleidoscope can be seen up to 40,000 different ways. Literally.
The idea is that Kaleidoscope is displayed in any order, but you can do it chronologically if you want. This way (and, spoilers be warned), the episodes would be laid out like this: Purple, Green, Yellow, Orange, Blue, White, Red, Pink.
Network reactions
Reading the Twitter comments about Kaleidoscope, it’s clear that many viewers find the idea of watching the episodes “out of order” curious. In any case, those who appeared more than the others were the undecided.
“I like #Kaleidoscope but the idea that you can watch it in any order annoys me because I’m an indecisive person,” one person tweeted.
“Ever since #Kaleidoscope was announced, I wanted to see it because of the cast. I found that there are different ways to see it? My brain is barely focusing on paying attention, don’t do this to me, hahahaha,” added another.
The discussion about which order to watch the episodes occurs recurring. “Who has seen Kaleidoscope? I need to know which Netflix episode made you watch first!” wrote one user. And so, a lot.
