Noah Schnapp rose to fame with his portrayal of Will Byers in Stranger Things, one of the most successful Netflix series in history. During the fourth season, the character has attracted the attention of fans by showing a love interest towards Mike Weehler (Finn Wolfhard), in fact, one of the scenes went viral due to Will’s speech about his feelings.
However, the creators have never confirmed the actor’s sexual preferences. Now, Noah himself has confirmed in a TikTok video that he has more in common with the character than he thinks. “I finally told my friends and family that I was gay” said Schanapp, 18.
“When I finally told my friends and family that I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know,'” he shared in his video, which went viral.
All accompanied by an audio where a woman says: “Do you know what has never been? Serious, he’s never been so serious, frankly, he’s never been so serious. Along with the video, the actor wrote: I look more like Will than I thought. this alludes to his character in Stranger Things.
Although it is never explicitly stated in Stranger Things that Will is gay, Noah Schnapp believes it and makes it clear again in his TikTok video. In late May, the actor spoke to Variety about the topic and said that audiences have an opportunity to interpret things his way.
“I feel like they never really address it or openly talk about what Will is like. I think it’s the beauty, that it depends on the audience’s interpretation, whether Will just refuses to grow up and grows slower than his friends, or whether he’s actually gay … I think people put a label on it and just want to know, ‘Oh, and that’s it.’ It’s just confusing and it’s growing.
The fifth season of Stranger Things will arrive on the Netflix platform in 2024.
