AppleTV+ has recently added a new film to its catalog which marks the return of Will Smith after the controversy caused by his behavior during the last awards ceremony oscar.
It concerns “Emancipation”an Apple TV original feature film directed by Antonio Fuquaknown for his work in films such as “Training Day” and “The Magnificent Seven”.
Synopsis of “Emancipation” (2022)
The story follows Peter, a runaway slave who escapes from the plantation where he was enslaved after the owners of said lands nearly killed him. The plot shows the long journey that the protagonist has to go through Louisiana to save his life from different dangers and get his freedom.
Critics had divided opinions on the film. The place IMDb, dedicated to films and series, gave it an average score of 6.0 out of 16,000 reviews, a low value that could change quickly, given how little time has passed since its premiere. On the other hand, the website Rotten tomatoes gave it an approval rating of 56% from audiences and 46% from outlet critics.
