The storming of the Court, the Congress and the Planalto Palace in Brazil by self-convened protesters of former President Jair Bolsonaro has awakened the immediate refusal of the most important businessmen in Argentina.
The powerful Argentine Business Association said in a statement: “From the Argentine Business Association – AEA – we wish to express our total rejection of the attempt to alter the institutional order in Brazil”.
Brazil is Argentina’s main trading partner and in 2022, there was a record trade that reached 28.5 billion dollars.
AEA was founded in May 2002 on the initiative of a group of entrepreneurs with the aim of promoting the economic and social development of Argentina from a private entrepreneurial point of view, with focus on institution building. The members of the association manage companies which together they employ 240,000 people.
It is chaired by Jaime Campos and its vice-presidents are Luis Pagani (Arcor), Paolo Rocca (Techint), Héctor Magnetto (Grupo Clarín), Sebastián Bagó (Laboratorios Bagó), Carlos Miguens (Grupo Miguens), Alfredo Coto (Supermercados Coto), Cristiano Rattazzi (Modena Group). Federico Braun (La Anónima) and Luis Pérez Companc (Pérez Companc Group).
