Nearly a week after the scandalous attack on Brazil’s institutions – where Bolsonaro supporters stormed Congress, the Planalto and the Supreme Court building – Brazil’s Supreme Court of Justice has authorized an investigation into Jair Bolsonaro over the incident.
The decision was announced on Friday after a request made by the country’s prosecutors and after public accusations made by the new president Lula da Silva, who has targeted the president for being responsible for the incident.
As reported by authorities, anyone still installed in the United States will be investigated both for their alleged participation and as masterminds of the three-power assault that has left hundreds detained.
Magistrate Alexandre de Moraes, one of the eleven judges of the Supreme Court, accepted the request of the prosecution, which seeks to clarify whether the far-right leader instigated the attack by his more radical supporters.
