Viral video and regret

Gwin became known for dousing a helpless homeless woman sleeping outside his business with water.. She did it with a garden hose and maintaining a cantankerous and determined pose.

After the video went viral, Gwin was very sorry. He publicly apologized and said that before bathing her he had let her stay there for a few days and that, despite this, he had responded with abuse when he began to ask her to leave.

“I am deeply sorry and I hate when I see that video,” he told ABC 7 on Sunday, adding that he was “completely screwed” out of frustration with the city’s ongoing homelessness problem.

Shannon’s version

In a conversation with the San Francisco Chronicle, the man said the woman, whom he identified as “Cora,” she’d knocked over trash cans and cursed him before he drenched her.

He also added that he let her sleep in the entrance of his gallery for several days and called social services and the police to help her. Although the authorities took her away, according to Gwin’s account, the woman left after a few days and returned to her own business.

San Francisco police arrested Shannon nine days after interviewing him and “Cora” to find out exactly what was behind the viral video.
