When is the full moon in February 2023 and how to see it?

Four are the most important evenings of this month, in which you can enjoy the Moon in its maximum splendour. And the first is coming soon, so at the beginning of the month. It is the phase of full moon, which can be seen on February 5th. Below is a list of the month’s major events involving the Moon.

Lunar calendar for February 2023

  • Full moon: you can see the February 5th. The Sun fully illuminates the satellite, so the entire face of the Moon can be seen clearly.
  • Last quarter: will see the February 13th. In this phase, only the left side of the Moon is visible in the northern hemisphere and vice versa in the southern one.
  • New Moon: will take place on February 20th. At this stage, the Moon is barely visible in the night sky, as sunlight does not reach the Earth-facing side of the satellite.
  • Crescent Quarter: you can see the February 27th. In the last phase of the month, the right side of the Moon can be seen in the northern hemisphere, and the opposite will be in the south.

Other astronomical phenomena that can be seen this year

In addition to those events related to the lunar calendar, there are other very interesting visible phenomena in the sky. During late January and early February, the comet C/2022 E3 it has passed through the northern hemisphere, but will still be visible from the southern hemisphere.

Also, the April 20th can be seen in Asia and Oceania a partial solar eclipse, when the Moon covers part of the star on said date. On the other hand, the October 14th it will be possible to enjoy annular solar eclipse in much of the Northern Hemisphere and in much of the Southern Hemisphere, when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun at its farthest point from our planet.
