However, a few hours before, the Chilean media The citizen He had published a leak from a source close to the legal case which would confirm that this report would confirm the poisoning of the poet with botulinum toxin.

The aforementioned portal indicated that the report confirms what has already been known since 2017: that the cause of death of the Nobel prize winner for literature was “Alaskae43 strain of Clostridium botulinum”whose DNA was found “the pulp of a molar” From the writer.

Thus, the aforementioned experts they would have ratified the poisoning but this Friday they also had to clarify how the botulinum toxin was introduced into the writer’s body.

Neruda would have received a lethal injection in the abdomen by an alleged doctor, in reality a secret agent of the dictatorship

The suspension of today’s press conference, which should have been held at the Palace of the Courts of Santiago, where it would have been made public how the bacillus reached Neruda’s tooth, was motivated by the impossibility of appearing of many of themwho have been meeting virtually and in person since January 24 to sum up.

The mysterious medical award

So far the main hypothesis is that the poisoning would have occurred from an unscheduled injection into the abdomen by an alleged doctor, who is actually a secret agent of the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet.

This injection was revealed in 2011 since poet’s chauffeur, Manuel Araywhich led to the opening of a judicial inquiry after a complaint by the Chilean Communist Party, of which Neruda was a member.

The false doctor, a certain Doctor Prize, who does not appear in any register, he would have pierced the writer around four in the afternoon on September 23, 1973, at the Santa María de Santiago clinic, where he had been transferred from his home in Isla Negra as consequence of cancer.

Neruda died at half past ten in the evening of that same day.

Two weeks had passed since Pinochet’s coup d’état which put an end to the government of the socialist Salvador Allende – a friend of the writer – and, although Neruda suffered from cancer, all the people and doctors close to him who treated him in those days agreed that his condition was not terminal.

In fact, he had already decided to go into exile in Mexico, with the presumed approval of the military regime, after the government of that country had granted him asylum.

It is assumed that Pinochet ordered the assassination of Neruda so that he could not become a symbol against dictatorship abroad.

This group of scientists is the third to try to clarify the poet’s death as part of the judicial process and is made up of experts from the DNA Center of the MacMaster University of Canada and the Department of Forensic Medicine of the University of Canada, among others. Copenhagen.

A second group of experts discovered botulinum toxin in the poet’s body in 2017, after his remains were exhumed from his grave on Isla Negra in 2013.

That same year, an initial forensic team determined, in the first instance, that Neruda had died of natural causes, as a result of prostate cancer.
