Google announced the release of ‘Bard’, a chat GPT opponent. It announced a full-fledged competition with Microsoft (MS)-OpenAI’s text generation AI ‘ChatGPT’, which is causing a global sensation. Google plans to release it to the public in the coming weeks after testing it with a select group of “trusted groups.”
“Bard, a new generation of conversational AI services developed based on Google’s language generation model Lambda (LaMDA), is today announced by Trusted Group,” said Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, Google’s parent company. “The bar will find information on the web and deliver up-to-date, high-quality responses to users,” he said. Unlike ChatGPT, which currently derives responses based on information until 2021, Bard is interested in whether it can cover up to date information and deliver it to users. It is an AI service that generates text based on language like ChatGPT.
Google also added that it is combining its own search with AI to provide simple answers to complex questions. If you ask a question in the Google window, AI writes the answer.
Google’s Lambda is known to have such strong language creation capabilities that an internal developer was fired in May of last year for claiming that it was “sentient.” Google believes that a service based on Lambda can cause ethical problems such as racist remarks, and has been reluctant to disclose it to the public like ChatGPT, and has practically adhered to ‘secretism’.
However, it seems that MS has responded quickly to the spread of OpenAI’s ChatGPT blast.
