Since February 2012, Gyeonggi-do has entered into a friendly exchange and cooperation agreement with Istanbul, Turkey, and has maintained cooperative relations in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, science, technology, tourism, culture, and arts. In Dongbaek-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, there is a ‘Monument for the Participation of the Turkish Army’ in memory of their participation in the Korean War. At that time, about 5,000 members of the 1st Brigade of the Turkish Army participated in the battle and won a great victory against the Chinese army in Kimryangjang-dong.
