‘Volleyball Empress’ Kim Yeon-kyung (35, Heungkuk Life Insurance) appealed for help and interest in Turkey, which suffered great damage from the strong earthquake that struck the southern region of Turkey on the 6th.

Kim Yeon-kyung recently posted three articles on her SNS about the earthquake in the Turkiye region. He introduced in detail how he could support Turkey, saying, “Help Turkey.”

More than 5,000 people lost their lives in the aftermath of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northwestern Syria on the 6th. Nearly 6,000 buildings collapsed in Turkiye alone, and the loss of life is expected to increase as hundreds of homes are buried under rubble.

Accordingly, Kim Yeon-kyung stepped out for Turkey, where she had a ‘special relationship’.

Kim Yeon-kyung joined Turkiye Fenerbahce in 2011 and played for six years, winning a total of seven championships. In 2011 she won the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) Champions League Women’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Top Scorer.

Kim Yeon-kyung, who played in China for one year in 2017, returned to Turkiye the following year and played an active part in Exashibashi for two years.

He returned to Heungkuk Life Insurance ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and left the Turkiye League, but continued a precious relationship. Giving a helping hand when Turkiye suffered massive product damage in 2021. At that time, there was a movement to donate seedlings to Turkiye, centered on domestic volleyball fans, and Kim Yeon-kyung also joined.

Meanwhile, Cesar Hernandez, coach of the Korean women’s volleyball team, also delivered a condolence message about the earthquake damage in Turkey. Coach Cesar, who also serves as coach Vakif Bank of the Turkiye League since 2019, said, “I was shocked to hear the news of the earthquake,” and “I express my condolences to her family who suffered damage. Turkiye will be with us.”
