The mother was with them and was told to release her children first. There is no news whether the mother was saved or not.

Rescuers are doing their best right now as experts warn that after 72 hours, hope of finding more survivors is fading.

The severe warning of Unicef

In Turkey the number of children left alone, between orphans and those still looking for their parents, is between 1,000 and 5,000.

“The number of children left without a family is increasing dramatically. We started the first day with 500 children and now we are between 1,000 and 5,000 because these numbers are increasing every day. When parents are taken to hospital, many times it happens that they don’t survive, and this is happening in all provinces,” explained Regina De Domicis, Turkey manager for Unicef.

On the other hand, around 700 orphaned children were already living in orphanages before the earthquake. For 496, the transfer to safe places has already been completed, while for 204 it is in progress.
