A 6-year-old boy and a 20-year-old boy were killed on Friday in an attack in East Jerusalem, where a man drove his car towards a bus stop. Five other people were injured, while the attacker was arrested.
The tragic episode took place on the corner of Golda Meir avenue and Binyamin Mintz, in the Ramot neighborhood, a Jewish settlement east of the Israeli capital. Authorities said the “suspect has been neutralized” and described the incident as a “terrorist” attack.
There’s been a major security operation in the area. The blue vehicle was stopped on the completely destroyed bus stop. Among the broken glass was a doll.
Numerous rescuers were mobilized on the spot and a helicopter and a drone flew over the area.
Two weeks ago, eight people were killed in an attack on a Jerusalem synagogue. The incident, which marked a new escalation in the Middle East crisis, came the day after an Israeli raid on a Jenin refugee camp that killed a dozen Palestinians.
