American environmental activist Erin Brockovich has urged President Joe Biden to “step up” his government’s efforts on an environmental pollution issue
Brockovich, made famous by the film of the same name with Julia Robertshe lashed out at Biden, urging him to “step up” efforts after a train derailment in eastern Ohio and subsequent toxic chemical spill.
The spill is causing an environmental crisis, which it would have already caused disease among the local populationas well as the deaths of farm animals and at least 3,500 fish.
Brockovich, who won a record settlement in 2000 for the California community of Hinkley for drinking water contaminated by a gas and electric company with hexavalent chromium, is also particularly alarmed by the fact that the governor of Ohio. Mike DeWinehe said yesterday he would not drink the water in that area.
President should be “more involved” in handling the Ohio disaster, Brockovich said, referring to the Feb. 3 incident.
That day a train operated by Norfolk Southern Railway derailed near the city of eastern palestinecausing a big fire.
