Putin warns he will achieve his goals in Ukraine ‘step by step’ and accuses the West of wanting to end Russia ‘for good’

A few days to complete one year of war between Russia and UkraineRussian President Vladimir Putin assured on Tuesday that Russia will achieve its goals in Ukraine “step by step”, describing the moment the country is experiencing as “difficult”.

The president also accused the West of wanting to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia in Ukraine and end it “once and for all”.

“What does this mean? What is this for us? It means they want to finish us off once and for all,” Putin said during his state of the nation address to both houses of parliament.

Putin, who has not addressed Parliament since April 2021, warned that in that case the “very existence” of the Russian Federation would be in danger.

He also lashed out at Western powers for turning a local conflict into a “global confrontation” and warned that Russia’s defeat on the battlefield “is impossible”.
