The Argentine government assured this Tuesday that it is willing to do so grant Argentine citizenship to political prisoners exiled from Nicaragua by Daniel Ortega’s regime on February 9.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero at the request of the famous writer and winner of the 2017 Cervantes Prize, Sergio Ramírez. “Of course, there is the possibility of giving Argentine citizenship to Sergio Ramírez and to all those who are suffering from what is happening in Nicaragua. If they ask for it, we will give it to them,” the official said.
Along the same lines, the presidential spokeswoman, Gabriela Cerruti, said via Twitter that the government of Alberto Fernández “is willing to grant Argentine citizenship to Sergio Ramírez, Gioconda Belli and all those who are suffering from what is happening in Nicaragua”.
