President Zelensky also wrote on social media that “(in a videoconference with President Lula) we agreed on the importance of upholding sovereignty and territorial integrity,” and “we also discussed diplomatic efforts to restore world peace with Ukraine.”

At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to Brazil for voting in favor of the UN General Assembly resolution on the 23rd of last month demanding the immediate withdrawal of troops from Russia.

In addition, the two leaders promised to resume communication between the two countries in the video conference.

The videoconference was held a day after Brazilian Foreign Minister Moro Vieira met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in New Delhi, India.

Meanwhile, Brazil has rejected Western requests to provide arms to Ukraine. President Lula said, “Brazil is a peaceful country,” and “will not participate in this war, even indirectly,” in support of military support.

Instead, in January, President Lula proposed the idea of a “peace club” to sign a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine.

The purpose is to find a solution to promote peace by bringing together countries capable of dialogue with the two parties to the conflict.
