The first International Women’s Day it was celebrated in 1911 in several countries of Europe, including Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Women have continued to fight for their rights throughout history, and in 1975 the United Nations Organization (UN) Officially recognized International Women’s Day.

In which countries is International Women’s Day not celebrated?

There are some countries where this date is not celebrated officially or has the same importance as in others.

One such country is Saudi Arabia, where women have historically been marginalized and discriminated against in many aspects of society. While the Saudi government has taken steps to improve women’s rights in recent years, there is still a long way to go in terms of gender equality.

In PakistanAlthough Women’s Day is celebrated, some organizations and religious groups consider this date un-Islamic and therefore neither celebrate nor criticize it.

In other countries, such as Japan and South KoreaEven if Women’s Day is celebrated, it is not as significant a date as in other countries and activities related to gender equality are usually not as numerous.
