He arrived in the UK full of dreams and hopes. He had been a very tough journey from his native Iraq, which included crossing the English Channel in a small boat, but he’d made it.
However, things They didn’t go as planned. He tried to start his new life but the setbacks kept piling up and after a while he gave up and melancholy enveloped him.
He wanted to go home but had neither money nor work to make the return journey so, desperate, he resorted to another strategy: get expelled by the authorities from the country.
And with that goal in mind, Rebaz Mohammed, we talked about him, he came out one day and stabbed Ellis Wheeleran 18-year-old college student whose only sin was to accidentally cross the man’s path.
A camera captured the brutal moment when Mohammed, who is 28, savagely attacks the defenseless Wheeler with a knife. The images quickly went viral on social media.
In the movie see how the Wheeler was left to fight for his life after Mohammed plunged a knife into the teenager’s back as he walked through Hoglands Park in the English state of Southampton.
The knife, common in the kitchen, he punctured his lungand the young man had to undergo emergency surgery when his lung collapsed.
Wheeler managed to dodge more shots and escape, but ended up passing out before she could get medical help.
Luckily a man also passed by dressed as a hero. He called the ambulance and stayed pressing the wound to stop the bleeding until the police arrive.
Meanwhile, the attacker has not moved from the place. And there he was arrested. He told the officers that he launched the attack because wanted to be expelled from the UK.
Richard Tutt, the man’s solicitor, told Southampton Crown Court that ‘Mohammed believed from what he was told that I needed to commit a serious enough crime“.
“He comes across as a very naive person.. She felt remorse, or at least pain,” the attorney added.
Mohammed, who entered the UK illegallyhe was living in a hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset at the time of the crime.
He had no job or money and had “made every effort to be deported”.
He was previously booked for criminal damages and assault and in May 2022 served 12 weeks in prison for harassment and racially aggravated stalking.
Meanwhile, Wheeler, a freshman at Solent University, was observed for five days after him underwent surgery for a collapsed lung.
The boy ended up skipping exams and he is still struggling to sleep as anxiety haunts himthe prosecution said.
Judge Brian Forster KC sentenced Mohammed, who admitted to grievous bodily harm with willful misconduct and possession of a knife, to six years in prison.
But in the end, Mohammed didn’t get what he so badly wanted. Judge did not authorize your expulsion. And instead he has to serve his sentence in an English prison.
