Greenpeace activists chained themselves to a Russian oil tanker in the Oslo Fjord for several hours on Monday to prevent it from reducing its shipment of hydrocarbons “that supply Putin’s war”, the organization said.
Twenty people who disobeyed police orders were arrestedpolice said in a statement after ending Greenpeace’s action.
Charter of Russian oil group Novatek, Ust Luga, registered in Hong Kong, has delivered 95,000 tonnes of kerosene to the Esso terminal on Åsgårdstrand, in southeastern Norway, the NGO indicated in a press release.
The tanker is from the Russian city with its name, located near Saint Petersburg, according to the Marine Traffic website.
Twenty Greenpeace activists aboard the rubber dinghy chained themselves to its chains, while others in the kayaks unfurled banners War fuels oil (oil fuels war), according to the NGO.
Some activists were intercepted by police before they could take part in the action.
