A teacher who received a shot in the chest and hand of a six-year-old boy spoke for the first time and revealed shocking details about the traumatic episode he experienced in a school of Virginia, USA.
Abigail Zwerner, 25 years oldwas shot by one of his students in the Richneck Elementary in the city of Newport News, after the minor had he kept a weapon in his backpack.
The teacher spoke publicly for the first time since the Jan. 6 incident, admitting that her fears about the boy’s behavior were soon realized.

“The morning felt like a normal school day, but I started hearing things and things started happening that made my fear grow,” Zwerner began in her account.

After the attack, she was rushed to the hospital, where she remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Newport News Commonwealth Solicitor, Howard Gwynconfirmed that the police he will not seek charges against the child because “the possibility that a child under the age of six could be tried is problematic” because he fails to understand the complex judicial system.
The student’s family has also not been charged after saying the 6-year-old boy suffers from an “acute disability” and would not go to school without a parent present.
Authorities also revealed that the child he attended school alone on the day of the shooting and had brought a firearm that his mother had acquired legally.
According to local media, the school has installed metal detectors and full-time security after the attack.
