It’s never too late. Karen Woods can confirm this. At 53, Woods is a passionate and successful writer, with 27 published books, many of them record sellers. What is surprising is that until just 14 years ago I didn’t know how to read and write.

Karen, who has signed book deals with HarperNorth Publishing and has appeared in television shows AS Loose women AND The only show He claimed: “I was bought into a council property and my mother and father separated when I was 13.”

When he left school, he hadn’t learned to read or write because he had trouble concentrating and he regularly missed school with other students.

She worked as a cleaner and was offered a promotion at 39 but was told so I should write emailsIt’s part of the job.

She took an adult literacy class and, after two attempts, passed the exam required to graduate from the course.

“I thought I could do it, but they sent me to an adult literacy class and as the lessons progressed, I became interested”.

“Once I had the certificate in hand, I realized anything was possible: he could read and write and was just like everyone else“.

During a wellness class, she revealed that her dream was to write a novel, and just three months later, finished handwriting his first book Broken Youth.

Against all odds, Karen’s book was picked up by Empire Publications, based in Manchester, England, and he has since written 20 books for publishers.

Karen is now signed to HarperNorth Publishing, which has published her last seven books, e He also wrote plays Sold out Lowry Theater and Middleton Arena.

“I wrote Broken Youth by hand and had to type it; It took me hours, but I did it. I went to a local paper that was running it in segments and then got a call from Empire Publications, they loved it.”
