A 13 year old student stabbed a teacher to death in a public school in São Paulo. Three other people were injured. The attacker is arrested. They investigate if he was bullied.
The fatal victim was identified as Elizabeth Tenreiro, 71, who died in hospital. The injured are three teachers and two students, according to the city’s Public Security Secretariat, the largest in Brazil.
Three teachers and one student remain hospitalized with ‘stable’ condition and another student remains hospitalized in ‘shock’, officials said
The event occurred in admission times to the school located in Vila Sonia, a neighborhood bordering the exclusive Morumbí neighborhood, and according to witnesses it was motivated because the attacker suffered bullying by some colleagues.
The attacker is an eighth grade student of the Thomazia Montoro school who entered the classroom like every day but sowed terror by pulling out a knife and starting the attacks, amidst running and screaming.
“Professor Cintia had it a heroic attitudegiven that without anyone’s help he managed to “reduce the aggressor,” the interior secretaries said. He followed up with another one where he repeated attacks using a blade.
According to the Bandeirantes news channel, information was found on the attacker’s mobile phone about other attacks against schools registered in Brazil caused by bullying or psychological abuse suffered by their peers.
The governor of São Paulo, Taricisio de Freitas, who is abroad, has sent a message of condolence in which he says he has no “words” to refer to the massacre.
Parents gathered in front of the school gate reported recurring cases of racism in the school among the students, indicated the GloboNews channel.
Brazil has recorded 12 attacks resulting in school deaths in the past 20 years by former students, according to the NGO Instituto Sou da Paz.
