The US Embassy has announced new visa requirements: when will they go into effect?

The authorities of United States of America announced changes in the processing of non-immigrant visas. That is why those who are preparing their visa applications should be attentive to announcements from American embassies.

The changes concern the presentation of the DS-160 formone of the first procedures that must be presented when applying for a visa of the type B1/B2. This document includes important information, such as the applicant’s first and last name, work and family information, among others.

What are the changes and when do they take effect?

The main modification of the procedure is related to its presentation. From May 1st From 2023, half-completed forms will not be accepted, but all the information provided in the document will be requested.

Form DS-160 requests personal information from the visa applicant and it is important that all information is true and correct. All form processing it is done electronicallybut a confirmation sheet, marked with the barcode number, must be presented at the appointment with the US Embassy and Visa Service Center.

Changes in visa payments

Another of the changes announced by the US government concerns the payment of the visa. All visa applications paid by 30 September 2022 can only be used up to 1st October of 2023.
