Tourist visa for the United States: the 5 steps to obtain it

The bureaucratic procedures to obtain the United States tourist visa they can be complicated. It’s a series of steps this goes from filling in forms and providing personal information, to paying processing fees and attending an interview.

However, more and more people are trying to visit the North American country, but to do so there is no other alternative than to request and process the B1/B2 visa. Fortunately, the US government has an official website where it clearly explains all the procedures necessary to do so.

Fill out the DS-160 form

The first thing to do is fill out the DS-160 form, as it is a mandatory requirement for anyone applying for a non-immigrant visa. The process is completely online and requires personal informationthe travel plan and other details.

The next step, related to the form, is pay the tax of the tourist visa. Until recently its value was $160, but the US government has raised it to 185.

Schedule an interview for the B1/B2 visa

Once these two steps are completed, you can now do it request an interview for a tourist visa at your local US embassy or consulate. waiting time vary by country and it might even take a couple of months.

However, it is important that this waiting time serves collect all the necessary documentation for said meeting. Another important aspect is to provide all the requested information correctly and truthfully, as any incorrect detail could prevent access to the visa.

Go to the interview with all the requirements

Once the date of the interview arrives, it is important to go there with all the required documentation and other supporting documentationie: valid and in order passport, financial information and other evidence of connection with the country of origin.

Also, you must submit a confirmation sheet to the appointment with the US Embassy and Visa Service Center, which is provided with the DS-160 form barcode number.
