Amidst the death of a famous Russian military blogger with 560,000 subscribers in an explosion, the suspect, a woman in her 20s, made a statement to the effect of admitting the crime.
According to Russia’s state-run TASS news agency, Daria Trepova, a 26-year-old woman suspected in the terror incident, said in a video released by the Interior Ministry on the 3rd (local time), “I took the statue there (the place where the incident occurred) and (the object) exploded. “I was detained because I was at the scene of the murder,” he said.
As for who gave him the statue, he avoided an immediate answer, saying, “Can I tell you later?”
Earlier, in a cafe in Saint Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city, an explosion that was presumed to have used TNT the day before occurred, killing blogger Vladlen Tatarsky (40, pseudonym).
At the time of the incident, Tatarsky was meeting readers at a cafe, and an explosive was found in a statue given to him by a woman.
Russia is now claiming that Ukraine was behind the incident. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, referring to the Federal Investigation Commission’s announcement that the suspect had been arrested and detained, “while the investigation is ongoing, there is evidence linking Ukraine to the bombings.”
He added, “I will wait patiently for the next announcement from the investigative committee investigating this matter.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine has stated that the accident is an internal problem in Russia. “(Russia) domestic terrorism,” said Mikhailo Podolyak, adviser to the president of Ukraine.
